The program Lisbon Mathematics PhD (LisMath, for short) aims at preparing high level researchers in the field of Mathematics by bundling the training and research expertise of two of the existing PhD programs in Mathematics in Lisbon, namely
LisMath is supported by eight research units belonging to either IST or FCUL.
The program, initially funded by a 2.2 M€ grant from the Portuguese Science Foundation (FCT), started in September 2014 and recruited 36 students during its first four editions. Meanwhile, the program has been extended by one more edition. Up to nine students will be recruited in this fifth edition. The last LisMath class is thus expected to graduate in 2023.
